Clinging To The Dream

A poem I just wrote because…well…do we need a reason?

dreams

I’m clinging onto every dream
Distant and far, so it may seem
But I know if I bear enough strength
The journey will shorten, every length.

People laugh and mock my plans
Only because they don’t understand.
If I want to pursue it, I will
I don’t care if it makes me ill.

I know they give me a dose of reality
Of course it’s a parent’s speciality.
Please I cannot bear the scoffing
The looks, the jibes, the subtle coughing.

The only way I can truly win
Is value that pride is not a sin.
It’s a way of coping through my journey
To achieve the goals I’ve set for me.
